Home Sick

Well, this week has been a bit more challenging in the home buying process. We have hit a slight road block with the roof. Apparently, the home inspector feels that it is necessary to have a licensed roofing contractor to verify if the house is in need of a new roof. This new discovery has sort of slowed things down a bit. We are still pressing forward and awaiting the answer as well as the response of the owner. We were pleasantly surprised that all other inspections went very well, considering that this house was built slightly after the Ark hit dry land, as Kevin likes to put it. As of today, our closing date is set for June 2. We are anticipating that day very much. It has been a long process to get to this point. After numerous revisions of a contract that started back in early April, the failure of our bank to lock in our interest rate, and a series of inspections, it is starting to seem as though we may be in the house by this time next year! I am not the most patient when it comes to moving into a real house. I have the "need-some-grass-and-trees-itus" syndrome currently. Treatment comes in the form of moving trucks and cardboard! For now, here are a few pictures of the inside. I like to think of them as "before" photos, with the "after" shots soon to come! You are looking at the dining room with French doors, the kitchen, one of the bedrooms, and a larger photo of the house to make up for the tiny one previously. Hopefully, these same rooms will have a much different look to them in the coming months!
