All Worn Out

We have lived in our house for almost two weeks now, and I am all worn out! Our schedule has been frantic without adding moving into the equation. It has been most fun, and I will post some pictures of the current progress tomorrow on my day off!!! I am taking a day to recuperate...or excavate (maybe would be the better term) the remains of 0ur belongings from the boxes that have recently become our furniture. I thought that we would surely be all situated by now, but alas we are not. There was/is more cleaning that I thought possible! This old house seems to scream BLEACH ME! Every little cabinet, nook, and cranny needs a thorough cleaning--some places I wonder if they have ever been cleaned in the 105 years the house has existed! Even still, it has been a blessing to be in a home and have no surprise plumbing disasters or electrical mishaps. We have been most fortunate to find a good home that simply needs some attention. I cannot wait to have it full of friends and family! I love to have a full house warm and cozy! I hope the Lord will bless us with the abilities to be hospitable. I love a well-worn welcome mat.

Happy Homeowners

Well, we did it! After three failed attempts at closing on Friday, Monday we finally became homeowners!! With much excitement, we look forward to moving this weekend. We do however, have to sell our neighbor her driveway to appease the powers that be. That will be for another day, because right now I am just happy about finally being able to call the house ours. Very soon, we will begin cleaning it up! I can hardly wait for all the work!! We are currently accepting volunteers for hard labor---we'll provide plenty of sweet tea and a dip in the local lake!

The Temper of a Red Head

Normally--as often done before--- I would dispel any old myths on red heads and bad tempers...but lately, I believe the myth just may have some truth to it! We are supposed to be closing on our house tomorrow but all the powers that be seem to want to keep this from happening at all costs. It all started Tuesday afternoon when our bank decided they just were not going to have the paperwork ready. After much ado about nothing and letters to the president of the bank, we finally got that worked out and things were on as scheduled. Suddenly, at four o'clock today we have discovered that our neighbor's driveway encroaches on our property...well no big deal one might say....oh no not so. These houses that have been next to each other for 100 plus years cannot encroach on one another a minute more. So we are in the process of tracking down the neighbors and having them sign a waiver that states they will not sue us if they are injured in their/our driveway---or else they need to bust up the concrete and move their driveway a couple of feet over. This all, of course, must be done prior to eleven a.m. tomorrow. This is the point in which my red hair plays a valuable role. I am furious...not at the neighbor...not at anyone really in particular...just furious that we seem to have as some would call it "bad luck". Those of you that attended our wedding probably remember the pastor noting that if I did not have bad luck, I would have no luck. Well, little has changed except I have now brought my husband along on the bad luck bandwagon. You see I have been thinking that maybe it all started with me defending the cause of the red head without a temper. Maybe luck would have changed if I would have just gotten mad years ago once or twice in all my episodes of such luck, but I didn't and bad luck has been chasing me down just to make a mockery of my senseless defense of the red head---so that I would indeed agree that yes, as a red head, I have a temper. Well I am surrendering. The white flag is waiving overtop my angry red head! I warn you all not to come too close during this angry moment because I have the overwhelming desire to pinch someone on the nose! I know that does not sound very threatening, but take it from me and my fiery hair---it would hurt!
